Best AI Website Builder in 2027: What You Can Do Yourself

An AI builder assembles a site in minutes, and for a personal project that is often enough. An honest look at where it shines, where it hits a ceiling and what it costs in your country.

In short

You can make a website with AI yourself in an evening or two: describe your business and the builder proposes structure, copy and design. It is a good choice for a personal project or testing an idea. For a bank check, search and growth you more often need your own site: our website in 24 hours costs €599.

How AI builds a website and what you can do yourself

An AI website builder is a service where you describe your business in words (“yoga studio in Lisbon, class booking, three languages”), and within minutes the program proposes a page structure, copy, images and colours. Then you edit the result in an ordinary editor and publish the site, usually on the platform’s own address or on your domain.

It really is convenient, and here is what you can realistically build yourself in an evening or two:

  • a personal page, a portfolio or a specialist’s business card;
  • a page for a hobby project, an event or a community;
  • a quick test of an idea: “will people leave requests for this kind of service”;
  • a small “packaging” site for a small local service, when being online matters more than looking unique.

We say this openly: for such tasks an AI builder is often the best choice, and paying a studio for them is not necessary. Questions arise when the site must pass a bank check, attract customers from search, grow and be 100% yours. More on that below.

If you are only starting to think about a site, see the general plan in how to make a website for business: a step-by-step plan: it suits both an AI builder and commissioning a site.

The best AI website builders: what they do and what they cost

The market changes fast, so do not expect a “best forever” ranking from us. Instead we show how to choose and name some well-known options. Popular ones include Wix with its AI assistant, Hostinger Website Builder, Durable and dozens of other services. Each has its own emphasis: Wix offers more templates and built-in tools, Hostinger usually wins on starting price, and Durable is aimed at small local businesses and offers a CRM and invoices alongside.

What it costs

According to 2026 pricing reviews, Wix’s paid plans cost roughly $17 to $159 a month when paid annually, and selling online needs a plan from $29. The free plan carries platform ads and has no custom domain. The AI assistant for building a site is available even on the starting plan. Other platforms charge differently, and for many the renewal price is higher than the first-period price, so look at the total for 2–3 years, not the first-month promotion. Always check current plans on the platform’s own site.

What to look at when choosing

  • Domain. Whether your domain can be connected and what that costs (the domain is paid separately in any option).
  • Export. Whether you can take the site with you if you want to leave. In many builders the finished site cannot be moved as code to another host: check the terms before you invest time.
  • Languages. How translations and separate addresses for different languages work.
  • SEO settings. Whether you can edit titles, descriptions and page addresses and connect Search Console.
  • Speed on a phone. Check the demo site on your own smartphone.

AI website builder review: strengths and limits

An honest review is best started with the strengths, because they are real.

What works well

  • Speed of start. The first version of the site appears in minutes, not weeks. It is a great way to work out what you need.
  • Low barrier to entry. You do not need to understand code or design.
  • Ready-made tools alongside. Booking, payment, mailing and simple statistics are usually built in.
  • Price at the start. For a small project the monthly payment is clear and low.

Where the limits begin

  • Similarity. AI assembles a site from standard blocks, so results look alike across different people. For a personal project that does not matter, but for a brand that needs to be remembered it does.
  • Generic copy. If you gave a short description, the copy will be universal. You need to rewrite it for your products, prices and tone.
  • Non-standard tasks. Accounts, roles, complex forms and links to your CRM and accounting most often run into the platform’s limits.
  • Platform lock-in. The site lives on someone else’s infrastructure and terms. Prices and rules can change.
  • Market particulars. AI does not know the legal pages, cookie consents and company details for your country. They have to be prepared separately and shown to a lawyer.

This does not mean builders are bad. It means the tool has a shape, and a task either fits in it or does not. For a detailed three-year ownership comparison using ordinary builders, see website builder vs custom website: which is the better deal.

How to create a website with AI: 7 steps without regrets

If you decide to try, here is the order that saves hours and nerves.

  1. Write the description yourself first. Name, what you do, for whom, three main services with prices, city or country, contacts. The more specific the description, the fewer generic phrases in the result.
  2. Choose the pages in advance. To start, the home page, services, about and contacts are enough. Do not ask it to “do everything”: every extra page has to be read and checked.
  3. Rewrite the copy for yourself. Keep the structure and replace the wording with your own: real prices, terms, examples of work. Add real photos, not stock ones.
  4. Add the mandatory items. Company details or the owner’s name, address or region of operation, a privacy policy, cookie consent if the site collects data. It is better to show these texts to a lawyer. The rules for websites in your country may differ.
  5. Connect your own domain. An address like “name.platform.com” looks unserious and disappears if you leave the platform.
  6. Check it on a phone. Open the site on a smartphone, tap every button, send a test request and make sure the email arrives.
  7. Connect statistics and Search Console. Without them you will not know whether anyone sees you.

The whole process takes an evening or two. If at any step you find that the platform cannot do what you need, that is a good signal to return to the question of your own development while you have invested a little time, not months.

AI copy and search: how not to lose traffic

The main temptation of an AI builder is to generate all the pages and publish. Here it is worth knowing Google’s position. In its guidance on using generative AI, the search engine writes that AI can be used for research and structure, but mass-producing pages with no value for the reader may violate its policy against “scaled content abuse”. AI-written text is not prohibited in itself; what is judged is its usefulness. The same guidance recommends checking facts and adding your own experience and context.

In practice that means:

  • every page should answer a real question from your customer, with your prices, terms and examples;
  • check facts, prices, addresses and legal wording by hand;
  • do not publish dozens of pages that mean the same thing;
  • add real photos, reviews and company details: that is what AI does not have.

If you want to be found not only through Google but also through AI assistants, read how to rank in ChatGPT. Banks and payment systems also need real company data: see Stripe website requirements: what banks and Wise check on your site. A generated “about the company” text without real details will not pass a check.

What is cheaper over three years: an AI builder or your own site

Work it out yourself. The defaults in the calculator below are benchmarks: a builder subscription of €25 a month, setup and content of €200, paid apps at €10 a month; for custom development, our website in 24 hours at €599 and optional basic maintenance at €49 a month. If you edit the site yourself in the editor, you can skip maintenance: set it to 0 and see how the total changes.

The result with the default numbers is honest and unexpected: for a simple page over three years a builder may turn out cheaper, especially if you pay for maintenance. Our arguments are elsewhere: the code, the domain and the accounts belong to you, there is no monthly fee to a platform, the site is built for your country and for a bank check, and you are not tied to someone else’s plans. Platform prices change, so enter your own values. The domain is paid separately in both options.

AI builder or your own site: cost over the years

The defaults are benchmarks: platform plans change, so check them on the platform’s site. YARDOS’s website in 24 hours is €599 (price list v0.4), and maintenance from €49 a month is optional. The domain is paid separately in both options.

When you need your own site, and what the website in 24 hours gives you

Consider your own development when the site is part of a serious task: a bank or payment system check, attracting customers from search, several languages, forms with integrations. Also when it matters to you that the site belongs only to you and does not depend on a platform’s terms.

If speed is what you need, we have the website in 24 hours for €599: one page of up to 7 blocks, a custom design based on your questionnaire, an editor for text and photos, a request form to your email, legal pages for your country (these are templates, and your lawyer checks them), email on your domain and a secure connection. The clock starts when we have the brief, the materials and access to the domain. You pay the registrar directly for the domain (about €10–15 a year), and hosting is free at the start.

If you need a full website, look at the business website for €2,490: up to 10 pages, a blog, 2 languages and SEO for 20 queries. We have gathered market prices and our own price lists in how much a website costs. And if you already have a site on a builder and have hit its ceiling, we can help with a redesign and migration: texts and page addresses are kept.

What to choose in your situation

  • A personal project, a hobby, a portfolio. Take an AI builder. It is quick and inexpensive, and you can redo it at any time.
  • You need to test an idea over a weekend. The same. If the idea works, you will move it to your own site.
  • A site for a bank, Stripe or a registrar. You need real company details, contacts and legal pages, not generated text. Better not to risk it: the website in 24 hours.
  • A local business that needs customers from search in your city. You can start with a builder, but think about a site with SEO set up for your queries.
  • You need accounts, payment, booking, a CRM. A builder will most likely not be enough. Look at the business website or a system built for your task.
  • You are not sure how to choose a contractor. Read how to choose a web development company. It has the questions worth asking us too.

If you want to check your plans against reality, describe them through the contact page, and we will tell you which format fits in your country.

Frequently asked questions

Can I build a full website with AI myself?

For a personal project, a portfolio or a small service, yes. An AI builder assembles structure and copy in minutes. But you will have to do the legal pages, company details, fact-checking and SEO settings yourself.

Which AI website builder is the best?

There is no universal best. Wix gives more templates and tools, Hostinger is usually cheaper at the start, and Durable is aimed at small local businesses. Compare the total price over 2–3 years, the domain, site export and SEO settings.

How much does an AI website builder cost?

According to reviews, Wix’s paid plans cost roughly $17 to $159 a month when paid annually. Other platforms have their own plans, and the renewal price can be higher than the first-period price. Check current plans on the platform’s site.

Does Google penalise sites made with AI?

AI-written text is not prohibited in itself. Google judges the usefulness of pages and is against mass-producing pages with no value for the reader. Check facts and add your own experience, prices and examples.

Will a site from an AI builder do for a bank or Stripe?

It depends on the content: reviewers need real company details, an activity description, contacts and legal pages. Generic generated text without them will not help, and the decision is made by the bank or payment system.

Can I move a site from an AI builder to my own later?

Texts and images can be moved. The site itself is most often rebuilt, because platforms rarely hand over the code. We do a redesign and migration that keeps your texts and page addresses, from €1,490.

How does your site cost compare with an AI builder?

The website in 24 hours costs €599 once, with no monthly fee to a platform. A builder is cheaper at the start but is paid monthly. Which is better depends on the period and your tasks: enter your numbers in the calculator.
